Faith, Hope and Love

Not too long ago I heard someone say that faith, hope and love were for weak people. This person said that faith was a crutch used by people who couldn’t stand on their own two feet. He also said that hope was for people who couldn’t deal with the reality of today. And he went on to say that love was a non manly emotion used by people who couldn’t express true emotions.

Just recently I heard about a scientific study with quite different results. This study found that strong people were more likely to have a strong faith in God. The study went on to say that people with a strong sense of hope were more likely to be happy and content with their lives. And these same people, being that they were happy and content were more likely to show their true emotions when it came to love.

So I have decided to expand the scope of this blog a little to include not only happiness but also include faith, hope and love. Because after all;

I Corinthians 13:
13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Let’s all have a happy day,
Greg

  1. Confession: I know He says that Love is the greatest of these, but if I have to be honest, Faith is the one that draws me the most. Yours must be Hope since that was the initial basis for this blog.

    Just some food for thought.

  2. I'm going to enjoy this blog! It's funny how some people think. I once told a couple (tongue in cheek), that I couldn't possibly be with my husband because I loved him. The couple laughed out loud at me. "Love?" they said, "without money women develop wings and fly away." HUH? Anyway, they meant it and I was stunned.

  3. Good for you! There is no lasting happiness without those three ingredients.

  4. Greg,

    You know you have to have faith to believe that love is possible and even exists and is possible to have.

    Hope let's us know that there is a chance it could happen to us.

    Love is simply the final result of all that is truly good is this world and the main result of why good remains! Because of LOVE!

  5. Excellent first post. I loved reading all the comments. I must be the HOPE follower now but faith is what keeps me hoping.

  7. The greatest of these is Love because God is Love, Jesus is love embodied. Faith, we must have, Hope- our hope is in Him and Love- is Him. Just an idea, don't know if it's a bullseye.

    I like this blog, Greg. Perhaps some theological discussion will be generated here, that's always interesting and thought provoking.
